The great tit (in Dutch: koolmees) is the most common tit in the Netherlands. 375 -625.000 breeding pairs; in winter 1-2 million specimen.

Great Tit

Second best in amount in the Netherlands is the blue tit (in Dutch: pimpelmees). Breeding pairs 250-400.000; in winter 500.000 – 2 million specimen.

Blue Tit

Less common in the Netherlands is the longtailed tit (in Dutch: staartmees). Breeding pairs 23-28.000: 50-100.000 specimen in winter.

Longtailed Tit

Decreasing in amount and only in coniferous woods in the Netherlands is the coal tit (in Dutch: zwarte mees). Breeding pairs 16-20.000; in winter 45-65.000 specimen.

Coal Tit

Crested tits (in Dutch: kuifmees) live in the Netherlands in pinewoods on sandy soils. Breeding pairs 13-16.000; in winter 40-50.000 specimen.

Crested Tit

The willow tit (in Dutch: matkop) decreased in breeding numbers after 1990 by 50% in the Netherlands. Breeding pairs 10-15.000; in winter 30-45.000 specimen.
